You need to have a grasp of Physics and Math before you commence studying the theory to clear your PPL. I interlocked with some universities that offer this program as a degree, and here is what they shared.
I can see some of you already walking away. It's really not as complex as some people assume it to be. In fact, the Math skills you would have acquired even through Mathematics AI SL is more than adequate. You just need to have a sound feel for basic algebra, arithmetic, and simple trigonometry.
If you have not studied Physics at school, it does not mean this aspiration is out of reach. Instead, you can self-study and ensure you have a sound understanding of the topics below, before you delve into the aviation books.
PHYSICS
Units and Measurement
Unit conversion
Dimensional analysis for checking formulas
Understanding basic quantities: distance, speed, acceleration, force, mass, energy, power
Kinematics
1D & 2D motion: velocity, acceleration, displacement
Projectile motion
Relative motion
Dynamics
Newton’s Laws of Motion
Force = mass × acceleration (F = ma)
Action-Reaction (lift vs. weight, thrust vs. drag)
Forces in flight: lift, weight, thrust, drag
Work, Energy, and Power
Kinetic energy and potential energy
Work-energy theorem
Conservation of energy principles
Power, mechanical efficiency
Applications: climbing, descending, engine performance
Simple Harmonic Motion & Waves
Basics of oscillations
Wave motion
Thermodynamics (Basic Concepts)
Temperature, pressure, density relationships
Ideal gas law: PV=nRTP V = nRTPV=nRT
Heat and energy transfer
Basics of air pressure changes with altitude
Electromagnetism
Electric and magnetic fields
Electromagnetic waves: radio signals, navigation, communication
Simple circuits and power sources
Optional
Forces on curved paths (centripetal acceleration, turns)
Friction and drag forces
Conservation of momentum
Once you have a good understanding of the above, the PPL theory books would be easy to follow. All the best!
